Greek Island Hopping by Gerald Ponting
The meeting on 17th May was booked to be a presentation by Trevor Gellard called ‘Reactions’. Unfortunately Trevor will now not be able to come along, so club member Gerald Ponting has kindly stepped in and offered to give us his illustrated talk called ‘Greek Island Hopping’. Here is what Gerald has said to introduce his talk:
I’ve visited more than 20 Greek Islands (from 1962 to 2015); here the best bits combine in one imaginary ‘trip’. My recent images are as colourful as only Mediterranean scenes can be, while black and white shots from the 1960s reveal fascinating aspects of rural life, then unchanged for centuries.
I’m sure this will be a very interesting look at all aspects of Greek life and culture, illustrated by Gerald’s beautiful photography. So thank you, Gerald, for stepping in at short notice, and I’m sure you will all show your appreciation to Gerald, by making it a great turn-out on the evening.
