PDI of the Year Trophy Evening

Tuesday 27th September at Viewfinders

Last Tuesday 27th September was the PDI of the Year competition at Viewfinders. This competition was open to all digital images that had been submitted in any trophy competition or assessment during our last season 2015/2016. There were a good number of entries, 69 in all, for Alan Cooke to judge.  Alan did a very good job of summing up the images in front of him, giving advice and suggestions where needed.  There was a very good selection of subjects and Alan said it was a tough decision to select the winning images.

“Dark Satanic Mills” was the title of the winning image in the Advanced category. The judge said that Malcolm Richardson’s picture using backlighting, bottles and small figurines was a great example of table top photography and that a lot of thought had gone into producing the image. Jillian Koernich’s “Fields” was placed second and Lynn Lambeth’s “Ladies on Steps” came third. Five Seals of Merit were also awarded; two to Lynn Lambeth and one each to Harry Borgerson, Steve Lobley and Steve Williams.

In the Primary category Julie Darby had a very successful evening; her image “Home to Roost” was awarded first place, her “Ghost Cranes” came third and Julie was also awarded a Seal of Merit for “Preparing to Land”. Ben Sasson’s “Wrong Side of the Tracks” came second. Two other Seals of Merit were awarded to Mike Wenman and one to Ian Whatmore.

Congratulations to all who received awards, and thank you to all who submitted images and made the evening such a successful and enjoyable one. All awarded images can be seen on the website under the gallery tab.
