The July Monthly Challenge is – Fêtes and Festivals
There has been an unusually disappointing response to the June monthly challenge of ‘Fêtes and Festivals’. It’s not clear if this is because it’s too big a challenge for our club members or more likely because there haven’t been enough events taking place through the month of June at which to take your images. Some members have said that they are attending some upcoming festivals, but too late to be included in the June challenge, so I thought I would give you another chance. From many local posters and advertisements July will offer many more opportunities – not least our own Romsey Festival and Beggar’s Fair. At this time of year many of our local villages and towns are hosting summer fêtes and festivals with lots of different themes and activities. This will be a good opportunity to visit and support these events and grab some fun and interesting images of the activities taking place. Perhaps your local school is having their summer fayre or your parish church is hosting a flower festival or maybe you’re getting out your tent and heading off to one of the large outdoor music festivals! I hope you find some great events at which to take your images to submit on this subject and I look forward to seeing what fun and imaginative things you come up with. I’m sure you will submit some great images and capture the spirit of summer!
Please submit your ‘Fêtes and Festivals’ images by emailing them to email@example.com until the closing date of 31.07.17. These should be prepared in the same format as the PDIs for assessments and trophies to a maximum size of 1400 x 1050 pixels in either dimension. Please also follow the same naming convention as used for the assessments and trophies.
I look forward to receiving your images and will upload them to Flickr as I receive them. You will be able to view them at https://www.flickr.com/photos/romseyviewfinders or alternatively via the link in the ‘Gallery’ tab on the Viewfinders of Romsey website. Don’t forget if you have a Flickr account you will be able to participate further as you can ‘fave’ the ones you like best and post comments, so why not consider setting up your own account if you don’t already have one? Alternatively, if you don’t have a Flickr account you can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org with details of images you would like to ‘fave’ and these can also then be taken into account. All the images from the previous months’ challenges are also still available to view there, too.
