Pam snaps up her first ten…

There was a good range of subjects among the prints, digital images and slides entered for the March assessment at Viewfinders of Romsey Camera Club, and  Charles Frewin FRPS came along to judge the evening.

In the primary class of the prints section, no 10s were awarded, but Brian Lovelock achieved a good 9 marks for his pleasant composition “A Dorset View”.  In the advanced class of the prints section, Charles awarded maximum marks to Peter Read for “Towards Midgley”, where he found the infra red effect created a very graphic picture.  He also awarded 10 marks to Stan Stubbs for his beautiful butterfly image “Common Blue”, saying that one shouldn’t comment on it, one should just admire the image!

In the primary class of the digital image section, Charles awarded a single 10 to Pam Bradley for “Hellebores”, which he felt was beautifully put together using nice colours.  This was great news for Pam as it was her first ever 10 achieved at the club!  There were no 10s in the advanced class, although Basil Hopkins was awarded 9 marks for “Sunset and Trees”, which Charles described as an intriguing and surreal picture!

In the smaller slide entry, Brian Lovelock was awarded a creditable 9 marks in the primary class for “Sika Deer”.  In the advanced class, Charles awarded no less than three 10s, one to Terry Jamieson for his beautifully taken “Red Kite 2” in flight, and two to Lynn Lambeth, for the striking composition in “Patterns” and for “Oxfordshire in the Mist”, where he liked the feel of the photograph.

Vice chairman Stan Stubbs felt that Charles had coped well with a large number of tremendously ‘enhanced’ images and commented that everyone would have leart something from his comments.
