Viewfinders of Romsey Camera Club opened the new season with their annual exhibition of members’ photographs in Stockbridge Town Hall, and prints from over 20 of the Club’s photographers were on display, covering a wide variety of subjects, including natural history, landscapes, sport and people.
Over 270 people came to view the display, and club members were on hand to provide visitors with further information about the prints. Everyone who visited was invited to vote for their favourite image and photographer.
Tony Rackham received the most votes for his image of the ‘Test in Winter’ and Peter Read gained the public vote for his impressive collection of landscapes to take the Best Photographer accolade.
Exhibition organiser, Giles Smith, commented afterwards: “This year’s display of the Club’s work was impressive not only for the broad range of subjects covered, but also for the talent shown by all exhibitors, especially the newer members of the Club. Their work received as much praise from visitors as that of the established photographers. It just goes to show what being a member of a camera club can do to develop one’s talent.”

The exhibition was followed by the start of the club’s weekly meetings, and members were entertained by Terrick Meakin, whose amusing style and superb black and white photography provided a perfect introduction to the year’s programme.
